In 2013, our Software Development Team worked hard to deliver some incredible product enhancements to our intranet software. This lead to further improvements for our overall user experience. Some features, such as Mega Menus, were created by our team to drive the product forward with new innovative functionality. Other features, such as Form Approval Export Options, were specifically requested by our customers to improve the efficiency of their internal business processes. The 2013 enhancements will revolutionize the way in which your employees utilize your business intranet, adding enhanced navigation, content approval and site features to an already robust Corporate Intranet. The following is
As a software architect, one of the challenges I have in writing this blog is finding creative ways to connect my experience and expertise to topics that will be useful to an audience outside of software development. I often find myself thinking about how some of the ways in which software teams approach problems can be applied to other types of projects or to life in general. Agile Development Lends to Agile Design A while back, I wrote a blog about how agile software development techniques can be applied to family life based on TED talk I had listed to
Tis the season to be merry and at our annual holiday event, held at the amazing ORU at the Vancouver Fairmont Pacific Rim, I sat at this magnificent table surrounded by twinkling lights and I watched our Intranet Connections team animated, laughing and connecting. It reminded me that my core motivation with this company is not about growth and profit. It’s about the “Human Factor in Business”. At one point in the evening, I found myself huddled with Maz about to clink glasses with the third round of festive drinks and Maz was being, well, Maz. Most of you know him
Last month men everywhere gave up their upper lips for Movember, a global movement which raises funds for prostate and testicular cancer research and promotes awareness for men’s mental health issues. Movember 2013 consisted of 1.1 million registered Mo Participants and raised a total of 146.6M CAD! For the second year in a row some of our Intranet Connections’ team members joined the Movember movement. Our Team ICGROMO raised over $4,300, grew some interesting facial hair, raised awareness about an important cause and had a lot of fun. The best part? We tracked it all and promoted our efforts internally

It’s that time of year again, where men everywhere give up their upper lips to increase awareness and raise money for men’s health with a Hairy Movember. Movember is an official global charity which supports world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health challenges. It encourages men to grow a mustache for the entire month of November, asking friends and family to donate to their efforts. While the movement is most well-known for encouraging extravagant mustaches, it has been extremely effective in its fundraising efforts as well. Since inception in 2003 Movember has
At Intranet Connections we value simplicity, creativity, connections, integrity and team work. We know that there is nothing scarier than disengaged employees, and therefore we infuse these core values into our software as well as our day-to-day operations. This Halloween was no different as the Intranet Connections team got together for an office Halloween party full of hilarious costumes, sweet treats and spooky games. Here are a few of our team members who really embraced their creative side! There was a great prize incentive for whoever received the most votes in our Halloween costume contest. Each of us voted for
As one of the Product Specialists here at Intranet Connections, (a sharepoint alternative product), I have seen many examples of organizations who implemented a SharePoint platform with high hopes, only to wind up frustrated when confronted with its many unanticipated costs and challenges. When I ask “why did you decide to go with SharePoint in the first place?” The answer I often get is “because everyone else uses it” or “because the initial costs were quite low.” SharePoint can be a high functioning, beneficial platform for your organization. However, if you jump in with both feet uninformed of the potential challenges, you
Recently our Intranet Engagement Consultant, Maz, worked alongside Northfield Hospital & Clinics to create and implement their new customized healthcare intranet. Along with our graphic designer he worked closely with Northfield to design an intranet with a simple, easy to navigate user interface, which contains all the healthcare resources they need to accomplish their day-to-day tasks within the organization.
Meet Eric Ryan, co-founder and self pledged co-parent of method. I had the pleasure of seeing Eric Ryan speak at the recent Art of Marketing conference and enjoyed the story of his journey on how the method brand turned the consumer-packaged-goods industry on its head. What struck me about Eric Ryan was not his enthusiasm, which was in abundance, or his charisma, also in abundance, but how their method company has produced a culture of innovation and ideas. I found myself smiling and head bobbing constantly during his talk. Yes!!
