Is 2014 the Year of Human Factor in Business?

Tis the season to be merry and at our annual holiday event, held at the amazing ORU at the Vancouver Fairmont Pacific Rim, I sat at this magnificent table surrounded by twinkling lights and I watched our Intranet Connections team animated, laughing and connecting. It reminded me that my core motivation with this company is not about growth and profit. It’s about the “Human Factor in Business”. At one point in the evening, I found myself huddled with Maz about to clink glasses with the third round of festive drinks and Maz was being, well, Maz. Most of you know him

An Intranet Connections Movember Success

Last month men everywhere gave up their upper lips for Movember, a global movement which raises funds for prostate and testicular cancer research and promotes awareness for men’s mental health issues. Movember 2013 consisted of 1.1 million registered Mo Participants and raised a total of 146.6M CAD! For the second year in a row some of our Intranet Connections’ team members joined the Movember movement. Our Team ICGROMO raised over $4,300, grew some interesting facial hair, raised awareness about an important cause and had a lot of fun.  The best part?  We tracked it all and promoted our efforts internally

Raise Your Glass! It’s Intranet Appreciation Day

Hello there, fellow intranet fanatic. Today, I bring you joy and another reason to celebrate in the midst of this very festive season: Intranet Appreciation Day. I use our intranet, EVERY day and yet, I have never taken a moment to profess my love for The SQIntranet** on public grounds. I LOVE my intranet because it is the ultimate resource. It is pretty, it is informative, it is flexible, and, it allows me to effectively help my teammates! Below, I’ve highlighted my favourite SQIntranet area and the respective specific business problem that it addresses. THANKS to the capabilities offered by

Intranet Connections Developer Mo Bros

Movember is well on its way through the Development Team and the Intranet Connections ‘ICMOGRO’ Team, consisting of 8 Mo Bro moustaches, a furry Mo Dog and an eccentric Mo Sista, has banded together to raise over $3,200 so far in support of men’s health issues including research for Prostate and Testicular Cancer. If you missed the Movember intro blog, be sure to have a quick read to meet our Mo Bros and find out what Movember is all about. You can donate to the Intranet Connections Movember team and check out photos of their mid-month moustache growth on our

What’s Driving Your Intranet Decision?

Just like almost every other kid on the block, I remember always wanting a Ferrari. Specifically a red one. This obsession with SuperCars, embarrassingly enough, continues even to this day. As great as these machines are, in my previous years I never really stopped to think about what kind of hassles I would run into if I owned one – speeding tickets, gas expenses, maintenance costs – each tire for a Bugatti costs about $10,000! Hardly standard operating costs. These cars are thrilling, but unfortunately they are not a good fit for my current lifestyle. A few weeks ago my colleague

Intranet Connections Sales Team Mo Bros

Last week we introduced you to the amazing ICMOGRO Mo bros Team who has agreed to give up shaving for the month of November in order to raise money for “Movember”, a global charity looking to change the face of men’s health.  If you missed the intro, meet our Mo Men and find out what Movember is all about here. Movember fundraising has certainly gotten off to a great start – 12 days in the team has already raised a total of $1,270CAD, with no sight of slowing down.  We have also implemented a “Best Mo” contest, to whichever ICGROMO

Intranet Connections Team Faces a Hairy Movember

It’s that time of year again, where men everywhere give up their upper lips to increase awareness and raise money for men’s health with a Hairy Movember. Movember is an official global charity which supports world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health challenges. It encourages men to grow a mustache for the entire month of November, asking friends and family to donate to their efforts. While the movement is most well-known for encouraging extravagant mustaches, it has been extremely effective in its fundraising efforts as well. Since inception in 2003 Movember has

Happy Halloween from Intranet Connections

At Intranet Connections we value simplicity, creativity, connections, integrity and team work. We know that there is nothing scarier than disengaged employees, and therefore we  infuse these core values into our software as well as our day-to-day operations.  This Halloween was no different as the Intranet Connections team got together for an office Halloween party full of hilarious costumes, sweet treats and spooky games.  Here are a few of our team members who really embraced their creative side! There was a great prize incentive for whoever received the most votes in our Halloween costume contest.  Each of us voted for

To SharePoint or to SharePoint Alternative?

As one of the Product Specialists here at Intranet Connections, (a sharepoint alternative product), I have seen many examples of organizations who implemented a SharePoint platform with high hopes, only to wind up frustrated when confronted with its many unanticipated costs and challenges. When I ask “why did you decide to go with SharePoint in the first place?” The answer I often get is “because everyone else uses it” or “because the initial costs were quite low.” SharePoint can be a high functioning, beneficial platform for your organization. However, if you jump in with both feet uninformed of the potential challenges, you

Even the Fluffiest Cloud Can House a Storm: Intranet Best Practices

As the Sales Manager here at Intranet Connections I get a lot of questions from prospective clients on intranet best practices and installation.  One question that seems to be popping up frequently during my intranet discussions is: “Can I put Intranet Connections in the cloud?” The answer to this absolutely, yes, but I have to ask….do you really want to? There are arguments as to why the cloud is a good option for a place to house your intranet, including low maintenance and included tech support.  However, putting your intranet in the hands of a provider can also lead to
