The most common questions prospective clients ask us about intranets are: "What is the payback of an intranet?" "How do I quantify the investment in intranet software?" "How do I determine intranet ROI?" Our Product Manager, Neil Chong-Kit, recently discussed how to ensure intranet ROI through effectively utilizing the Form Builder application. As a follow up to that post, this post will cover a more general overview of how you can plan for and improve your intranet ROI. The soft benefits, the intangible assets that your company or organization acquires, come from many parts of an intranet deployment.
One of the most common challenges faced by an intranet manager is discovering ways to encourage employees to sign into and utilize the intranet that they have worked so hard to create. In my experience, this is most often an IT admin within the company who has been tasked with developing an intranet to meet a specific company need such as an Online E-forms Application, a Document Management System, or a tool to enhance workplace culture. What often ends up happening, however, is that the optional applications and capabilities of the intranet exceed the initial sought for applications - while
While in Sweden to watch our junior’s try to reclaim hockey gold, I had an interesting experience in a Swedish grocery store. Most of the customers were walking around with hand held scanners that were available at the store’s entrance. When I asked one of the employees what the scanners were for, I was told that the customers could take a scanner, swipe their credit card and then scan each item as they put it in their basket. When they finished shopping the scanner billed their items to their credit card. The customers loved the scanners as they removed the
Whether you are implementing a new intranet solution or looking to revamp the one you have, the key to enhancing employee engagement and ensuring intranet adoption is a well thought-out and executed intranet homepage. Your homepage is the first thing your employees see when they click onto the intranet, or in some cases when they open their browser. It is their first impression of what the intranet can do for them and can often be the deciding factor of whether they choose to continue through the site or stop their journey short.
Last month men everywhere gave up their upper lips for Movember, a global movement which raises funds for prostate and testicular cancer research and promotes awareness for men’s mental health issues. Movember 2013 consisted of 1.1 million registered Mo Participants and raised a total of 146.6M CAD! For the second year in a row some of our Intranet Connections’ team members joined the Movember movement. Our Team ICGROMO raised over $4,300, grew some interesting facial hair, raised awareness about an important cause and had a lot of fun. The best part? We tracked it all and promoted our efforts internally

It’s that time of year again, where men everywhere give up their upper lips to increase awareness and raise money for men’s health with a Hairy Movember. Movember is an official global charity which supports world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health challenges. It encourages men to grow a mustache for the entire month of November, asking friends and family to donate to their efforts. While the movement is most well-known for encouraging extravagant mustaches, it has been extremely effective in its fundraising efforts as well. Since inception in 2003 Movember has

We know that there is nothing scarier than disengaged employees, and therefore we infuse these core values into our software as well as our day-to-day operations. This Halloween was no different as the Intranet Connections team got together for an office Halloween party full of hilarious costumes, sweet treats and spooky games. Here are a few of our team members who really embraced their creative side! There was a great prize incentive for whoever received the most votes in our Halloween costume contest. Each of us voted for
As one of the Product Specialists here at Intranet Connections, (a sharepoint alternative product), I have seen many examples of organizations who implemented a SharePoint platform with high hopes, only to wind up frustrated when confronted with its many unanticipated costs and challenges. When I ask “why did you decide to go with SharePoint in the first place?” The answer I often get is “because everyone else uses it” or “because the initial costs were quite low.” SharePoint can be a high functioning, beneficial platform for your organization. However, if you jump in with both feet uninformed of the potential challenges, you
