The central focal point of Intranet Connections is the What's New and My Alerts feature, available on the intranet home page. View at a glance any new content that is being published to the site, as well as set alerts for new and updated content in defined areas throughout the site. The What's New and My Alerts provides current, relevant and new information right at your fingertips.
Content advertised to the What's New box will display based on users view rights. If a user does not have access to view advertised content, they will not see it listed under What's New.

What's New
When you publish an item to any area on the intranet site, you have the option to advertise your item onto the intranet home page, under the What's New Listing. Select to advertise the content immediately, or pre-set a future date and time for the item to be displayed under What's New on the home page. An extremely popular feature with users who come to depend on What's New for important company notices, corporate documentation, forms and policies, as well as new and relevant information being published daily to the site.
What's New is also customizable. You can rename this feature, determine how many items are advertised on the home page before the "view more" link, or you may opt to remove this component entirely. Intranet Administrators can define if they wish to assign default thumbnail graphics for What's New advertisements (assign a thumbnail graphic to represent each application) or allow users to add their own thumbnails. You may also turn off the thumbnail feature altogether.
My Alerts
Users can filter the corporate What's New to only show content of interest. Updated content will display an "update" flag in order to quickly differentiate new content from updated content. Users can remove Alerts once they have reviewed the item.
In addition to the Site Alerts listing, users can subscribe to Email Alerts and receive email notifications when items have been added and updated. Subscribe to new content, updated content or all items. Email alerts will be sent out to you according to the subscription selected.
This area is completely user-defined, however it can be turned off by the Intranet Administrator should you wish to not allow users to define their own content alerts.
